You Are The Source for Changing Your Life
If you’re looking to make a change in your life, it’s easy to seek answers or inspiration from external sources, whether it’s a mentor, a book, a workshop, etc. However, the truth is what you’re really searching for is already within you. The power to transform your life comes from recognizing that you are the source and change agent. By turning inward and putting the trust in yourself and the path you want to take, you can cultivate the change you desire. When making shifts whether it’s a big one or small one here are three simple questions to ask yourself.
What do I REALLY DESIRE to change?
When creating meaningful change, starting with the awareness of what you truly desire and want to change is the starting point. This is essential because clarity acts as a guiding light, helping you define your desires and intentions clearly. The deeper the understanding you have surrounding the change you want, will support you to make effective lasting change in your life. Watch out for surface level changes based on societal pressures or norms. These can really trip you up and waste a lot of time if you attempt to make a change that truly doesn’t resonate with you. A really critical piece to creating lasting change is to search whats in your heart, because deep inside your heart is where your true desires of your soul reside.
What is my WHY?
Understanding WHY you want to make a change is essential, as your motivations will serve as the driving force behind your commitment and perseverance through the challenges that arise. When you tap into the core reasons for your desire to transform, you not only clarify your goal but also ignite a deeper passion that can sustain you during difficult moments. This self-awareness acts as a compass, guiding your decisions and reinforcing your resolve, helping you push through setbacks while keeping your sights set on the positive outcomes you seek. Embracing this insight empowers you to cultivate resilience and stay aligned with your purpose, ultimately leading you toward creating an effective shift in your life.
Am I WILLING to do what it takes?
Finally, be honest with yourself. Ask yourself if you are willing to do what it takes to achieve this transformation; genuine willingness often means embracing discomfort and stepping outside your comfort zone. This willingness to confront the unknown and challenge the familiar can be daunting, yet it serves as a crucial catalyst for growth. As an example maybe you want to change the way your health is and lose a large amount of weight so you can feel better. However, in asking yourself if you are willing to do what it takes, you find that you just don’t want to give up certain foods. It’s in being brutally honest with yourself that you will find the right answer. Maybe you desire to be healthy and lose weight but an unwillingness to go through an intense diet will lead you to what you ARE WILLING TO DO. In this case a doing a work out regimen but not willing to change the diet. Great! You now are being honest with yourself and can get started with your workout regimen and create the next level of health for yourself.
Support
Of course it’s okay to have support when you want to make a change in your life. Mentors, books, workshops, etc can be very helpful. A good facilitator doesn't just share knowledge; they create an environment for you to discover your own inner wisdom. As an example, one of my biggest gifts that I support people with is being able to peel back the onion and get to the real desire and their challenges to make a shift in their lives. I’ve found over the years when people are unable to make changes in their lives, its either because their desire is not true in their heart (they are not being honest with themselves) or they have deep rooted limiting beliefs that hold them back, sabotage or derail them. So depending on which category a person is struggling with making a change, I either help them get honest with themselves and drop from their head (what they think they want) and get into their heart (their true desire) or we work on uncovering their limiting beliefs, by shining the light on them and creating actions to overcome them.
In Conclusion
When you combine awareness of your current situation, what your heart truly desires, a clear understanding of your "why," and a willingness to take action, you unleash a powerful motivation that can drive lasting change. This serves as a solid foundation, allowing you to navigate challenges and overcome obstacles with resilience. Awareness illuminates the areas of your life that need attention, knowing what your heart desires gives you the clarity, knowing your "why" provides purpose and direction and having a genuine willingness to commit to the process, will foster a deep-rooted determination, enabling you to create the meaningful shifts you seek in your life.
